Humble Beginnings

Wednesday Night Dinners were started years ago when Barton Bollfrass of Hububashu Films had weekly dinner parties that just seemed to continue getting bigger and bigger. This continued for years and became known as Wednesday Night Dinner.
When Doryan Rice moved to town and started having weekly dinners of his own, he and Barton began combining cooking efforts for WNDs, along with other local cooks, and the crowd grew exponentially.
Every week we would have more friends, and friends of friends, come over to enjoy our cooking. With so many artists and musicians in Austin, many times our dinner party turned into an intimate way to showcase local talent.

First Evolutions

With rising costs of throwing ever larger weekly dinners, Barton developed the idea into a TV Pilot where two chef/hosts would cook and entertain while showing people how to throw a dinner party for many friends for less than $100. Hububashu Films not only created the pilot but put the whole thing together, using Doryan as one of the featured chef/hosts.

Using local love

We love our city!

Granted, we've expanded to catering in Houston and surrounding areas, but Austin is truly home to me.

Whenever possible, we try and work with local food providers, artists and musicians to keep our city strong.

Continuing to grow and change

Although the show has yet to be picked up, and Hububashu has moved onto other wonderful projects, some people just can't let things go.

With the show over, Doryan Rice took the reigns and re-created the idea into a mobile event. Planning, cooking, organizing music and artwork, and finding more and more local sponsors who contributed to our first year of productions. In the interest of continuing to give back to the community, Doryan came up with the idea to hold these events as fund-raisers for non-profit organizations.

In 2006, when Barton got married to his lovely wife Sarah, they convinced Doryan to be the one to marry them. Just a few minutes later, he was an ordained minister. This has provided another opportunity to customize and take part in yet another important aspect of peoples' lives. As a student of many spiritualities, Doryan has become versed in many different versions of marriage rites. With Adam Graves, a "P.K" and great singer/orator, they make a great team to make your ceremony as serious or as much fun as you'd like.

Since then, WND has worked on projects in the catering, craft service, event planning, show production, and local dinner party scenes. We plan on continuing in these veins and hope to produce more ways to help our community grow.
